MORTGAGE REDUCTION
Understand your home loan beyond the repayment
An affordable repayment is only part of the picture. Understand the interest you may pay over time and compare changes without losing sight of your household budget.
What we work through together
Start with the current loan
Bring your balance, rate, remaining term, repayment frequency and fees. This gives you a baseline against which to compare a different approach.
Test extra repayments
Explore an amount you could sustain after living expenses and emergency savings. Even a small change can affect the payoff path, but the result depends on your loan conditions.
Consider the role of an offset
An eligible offset can reduce the balance used to calculate interest. Compare the benefit with package fees, interest rates and how much cash you expect to keep available.
Compare the total cost
A lower advertised rate does not automatically mean a cheaper loan. Include switching costs and check whether a new term would extend the time you remain in debt.
OUR APPROACH
Clarity before commitment
Your first conversation is an opportunity to ask questions, understand the service and decide whether the next step makes sense for you. We will explain scope and fees before you agree to proceed.
Questions worth asking
Will paying fortnightly always save interest?
It depends on how the repayment is calculated. Paying half a monthly repayment every fortnight increases annual payments. Our calculator instead calculates an amortising payment for the chosen frequency and shows extra repayments separately.
Does refinancing mean starting another 30-year loan?
No. Discuss the term you actually need and compare total repayments over equivalent periods. Extending the term can increase total interest even when the rate is lower.
Can every loan accept extra repayments?
No. Limits, fees and break costs can apply, particularly to fixed-rate loans. Check the terms with your lender before making a change.
